The excellent artists of the Aerofonia duo – Polish saxophonist Weronika Partyka and Slovenian organist Tjaša Drovenik Adamec – performed, fully justifying the title of the concert. They virtuously and musically presented a demanding program for saxophone and organ, ranging from baroque elegance to contemporary composers' manuscripts and sounds close to jazz and film music.
Nostalgia with saxophone and organ
(Nostalgia for alto saxophone and organ by Hans-André Stamm, performed by: Weronika Partyka, saxophone; Tjaša Drovenik Adamec, organ)
She brought the breath of the north
on the golden wings of the saxophone
Down the slope of the evening concert
played a cold morning
Of the Baltic sea.
Dance of the fish on the sandy beaches.
The swans.
The cosmogony of water.
Harbors, ships, shipyards.
Goings and comings.
The sanctity of remembrance. The presence of God
in the churches, in the streets.
Consciousness about foreigners, here and there.
Concert accompanied by Tjaša on the organ.
Instrument repository.
It started to rain, a gust of wind.
A golden bird in the mouth of beautiful Weronika
she spoke strong, sad.
The most pleasantly surprising aspect was the first-time-heard combination of the saxophone (soprano-, alto-, and tenor-) with our magnificent organ. The two instruments complemented each other acoustically in perfect balance, and through the musically impeccable ensemble of Tjaša Drovenik Adamec and Weronika Partyka, a truly organic whole was created, pleasantly permeating our ears.
Saxophonist Weronika Partyka impressed us with her virtuosity and with her broad, full, and soft tone, which is a rarity among saxophonists. Organist Tjaša convinced us with her precisely articulated playing and imaginatively chosen registration.
